FAQS

Real egg ornament questions

1)     Is this a real egg?
Most definitely! These ornaments are hand painted and crafted from real chicken or goose eggs. Just like the ones you buy at the grocery store or your local farmers market. They are blown out, washed out and dried, then made into a beautiful hanging ornament or treasured keepsake.

2)     What is the process?
A special tool is used to make small holes in the egg. Then the yoke and whites are blown out, the shell is washed out and then allowed to dry. In some cases, the egg shell is cut to make dioramas or open and close boxes.

3)     How fragile is the item?
These ornaments are stronger than one might think. Especially those that are painted with a gloss coating. This makes them extra strong. I would suggest treating them as one would treat any other special Christmas tree ornament. These are not glass, making them much safer around children so if one does happen to fall from a high branch and crack, no glass shards.

4)     How do you ship the item so that it arrives intact?
In most cases I use double boxing packed with either crate paper or bubble wrap. The key to safe packing is making sure the item does not have too much wiggle room. To date, I have not had an egg arriving at its destination cracked.

5)     What if my item arrives cracked or broken?
I love to hear from my customers, good or bad. Please contact me so we can find a solution.

6)     Can I personalize my egg?
More eggs choices for personalization are being designed, but currently, eggs where there is sufficient space around the main design (painting) I can personalize. Personalized eggs may take more production time however, so consider ordering accordingly to make sure your gift arrives on time.

7)     When will I receive my order?
Currently I am using Canada post to ship my product. If eggs are not personalized, I typically ship them within one or two days after order is placed. Of course, personalized eggs may take a bit longer to get out. Typically eggs arrive within 7-10 business days.

8)     What is your refund policy?
Please see the full refund policy on the home page. Because of the nature of the product we typically cannot offer refunds. Customer satisfaction is always a priority however, so if issues do arise, please contact to work out a solution.

9)     Where can I view your products in person?
Eggnog Shop’s home base in Montreal and can be seen at many craft fairs and markets in the area. Please keep checking the website events page, or like and follow our Facebook page for our next event.

10)  How long will my ornament last? How many years?
Eggs shells, especially when painted can last many years. In fact, I still have some that I made over 20 years ago and hang them on my tree. If you treat this ornament as you would any other special ornament, there is no reason why these special items cannot become an heirloom ornament.

11) DO YOU EAT ALL THOSE EGGS!?

We eat a lot of omelets in our house ~ Just saying.
